About
Men's Suits. . .
OK,
let's talk about men's suits. We know a man's suit consists of a
coat and pant made of the exact same material and pattern. So, it
sounds easy enough to shop for a man's suit doesn't it? However,
there are all kinds of suits. Suits for summer, suits for winter
and suits designed to be worn year round. There are 2 button suits,
3 button suits, and even double breasted suits. Then there are suits
engineered for less wrinkling, anti-microbial suits, suits with
luster. . . and we haven't begun to talk about fit – so let's start
there. Because after all, before you can select the right suit,
you need to know the size.
Do
You Have Trouble Buying a Suit That Fits?
The
following information should help you find the right men's suit
for you. Suits are typically sold by chest size and specialty. The
term “specialty” refers really to the height of the person. At Delbert's,
we stock suits in the following specialties: short, regular, long,
and extra-long. Generally, a man's height will determine the appropriate
specialty.
| Short
– up to 5 feet 7 inches tall;
Regular
– 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall;
Long
– 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall;
Extra-Long
– 6 feet 3 inches and taller.
Once
we have determined the size and specialty, we will need to
select the appropriate cut. At Delbert's we carry 3 different
cuts: standard, athletic, and portly.
Standard
Cut Suits. . .
A
standard cut suit has a 6 inch difference between the chest
size and waist size of the pants |

This
is commonly referred to as the “drop”. For example, a 42 regular
suit will come with a size 36 waist pant. However, with standard
cut suits the drop reduces slightly as the chest size increases
(38
to 44 – 6 inch drop, 46 to 50 – 5 inch drop, 52 to 60 – 4 inch drop)
(more.
